Steel transportation with safety, precision and accountability
At H. Daugaard, we’ve been transporting steel since the 1960s – and we know exactly what it takes to move heavy goods safely and efficiently from steel mill to end customer. With decades of experience, we provide tailored solutions where safety, precision, and responsibility go hand in hand.

Logistics on the Customer’s Terms
At H. Daugaard, we don’t offer standard solutions. Every job is adapted to the customer’s needs – whether the task calls for the flexibility of road transport, the stability of rail, or the capacity of sea freight.
What makes our logistics solutions unique is that we often combine different modes of transport. For several of our customers, we receive the steel by ship and store it at our warehouse. From there, our trucks ensure day-to-day deliveries directly to the final destination. That’s customized logistics in practice.
Experience Makes the Difference
Steel transport requires precision in every detail – especially when dealing with large coils, heavy plates, and tubes. Our experience enables us to anticipate potential challenges and resolve them before they arise. We know the materials, we know the logistics – and we know what it takes to deliver safely and on time.
Customer Case: Steel Sheet Piling for the East Jutland Motorway
A great example of how we work in practice is our collaboration with Per Aarsleff A/S – Denmark’s largest construction company, specialising in infrastructure, climate adaptation, environment, energy, and building – on the delivery of steel sheet piles for the expansion of the East Jutland Motorway. Here, timely, efficient, and flexible delivery is essential.
“You understand our daily operations and adjust accordingly when I need more or fewer trucks. When we can’t receive everything at once, you store the rest – and that makes a big difference for us. I’ve even sent a welder down to your site, and you delivered the items afterward. There’s always direct communication, and I know the delivery will be on time and with the right equipment. The collaboration is personal – human to human – and both sides go the extra mile for each other. That kind of partnership can’t be measured in money.”
– Lasse Palsgaard, Foundation Foreman at Per Aarsleff A/S

Safety First – From Steel Mill to End Customer
When we transport steel, safety is always a top priority – for both our employees and the cargo. We use specialized equipment like cranes and forklifts designed to handle heavy goods safely, and our staff are always properly equipped with helmets, vests, and safety shoes.
But safety is also about procedures. That’s why we continuously improve our processes to stay one step ahead – for the benefit of both our customers and our colleagues.
Staying Ahead of Regulations
Laws and requirements vary from country to country, and when steel crosses borders, it takes both insight and experience.
We stay up to date with legislative changes and ensure everything is in order – so our customers avoid unnecessary delays, errors, or bureaucratic hurdles.
We take full responsibility for the entire transport process – from documentation and regulatory approvals to safety measures – and guarantee that every shipment of steel is handled securely and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
With H. Daugaard as your transport partner, you can rest assured that everything is managed professionally and efficiently – so you can focus on your core business.
Environmentally Responsible Solutions
Environmental concerns are growing, and there’s increasing demand for solutions that are more sustainable – even when transporting large quantities of steel over long distances. Steel transport will always require energy, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done more responsibly. At H. Daugaard, we always evaluate the most eco-friendly solution based on the specific task and customer needs.
At the same time, ESG reporting has become an essential part of many companies’ strategies. That’s why we offer our customers direct access to accurate Scope 3 data and a full CO₂ emissions overview for each shipment through our customer portal. This makes it easy to document environmental impact and supports our customers’ sustainability goals.
Internally, we’re constantly working to optimise our processes to reduce environmental impact. For example, our truck drivers are trained in eco-driving, where they learn to drive more efficiently by easing off the accelerator in good time and avoiding unnecessary stops and starts. This approach is particularly important when transporting heavy goods like steel, as it helps reduce fuel consumption and vehicle wear.
