Online strategies & social media under the microscope

In a longer program starting in February and ending in May 2019, we are currently the focus company in an exam case in the subject Project Management at the HA program 'Marketing & Management Communication' at Aarhus University.

In a longer process starting in February and ending in May, we are currently the focus company in an exam case in the subject Project Management in the HA program 'Marketing & Management Communication' at Aarhus University, where 120 students have been given the task of preparing a plan for projects and initiatives to build and strengthen our online presence and efforts on social media.

The projects focus on giving us a broad insight into how we can leverage the use of social media and internet technologies in our marketing and sales strategies with the aim of giving students the chance to work with project tools as part of a real project related to a real company and a changing industry - and us the chance to get constructive feedback on our online activities and new perspectives on developing new initiatives both on our website, social media and other online opportunities.

Why collaborate with AU?

A process like this requires resources - a lot of resources! So why do we choose to prioritize such a comprehensive case into a busy workday?

Palle Mogensen, who together with Professor Constance Kampf from AU's Management Business and Social Sciences, has led the collaboration:

'We do this with the expectation of adding a good dose of young 'wildness' to an established, conservative company - and because we want to move out of our comfort zone and forget everything about 'usual' for a while. We believe that the course will give us a catalog of ideas borne of the students' lack of limitations, which we can then pick from and figure out how to translate into activities and initiatives that give our marketing, strategy and everyday life an injection of energy.

Future employees?

We also see the collaboration with AU as an alternative way to recruit the business talent of the future. It's not a given that we internally have the skills to lift the digital online presence in the future - that we need to take alternative paths to secure our competitive advantages. Therefore, a close dialog with AU and a link to an educational environment that is always moving towards 'the next thing' is an exciting opportunity.

Who will win?

Throughout the process, which has been characterized by interest and curiosity, we have looked forward to receiving the final projects, which landed with us in mid-May and which we are currently reviewing, assessing and discussing internally, partly in the management team - and partly with employees who can provide additional input on the potential of the projects.

There are prizes up for grabs for the most innovative project, the most useful project and the best written project - and we'll tie the whole project together with an event at the beginning of June, where the winners will be presented with their prizes - and where we'll have the chance for another round of ping-pong with the students.

Look forward to seeing the results unfold and take shape! For questions, please contact Palle at pm@H-Daugaard.dk or Constance at cka@mgmt.au.dk.
