What is cross docking?
Cross docking is a distribution method where incoming goods are sorted and forwarded immediately upon receipt. The goods are only stored briefly at the terminal, typically between a few hours and a maximum of 24 hours, before being reloaded for outbound transportation.
Different types of cross docking
The method comes in several variants. In direct cross docking, the goods go from inbound to outbound vehicle with almost no handling. Consolidated cross docking consolidates shipments from multiple suppliers to one recipient. Distributive cross docking works the other way around, splitting large deliveries to multiple destinations.
In our terminals, we use the method when customers have time-critical deliveries, when goods need to be rerouted to new destinations, or when we combine loads from different modes of transportation.

Road transportation and cross docking
Road transportation is the most flexible form of cross docking. We offer both Full Truck Load for larger volumes and Less Truck Load for smaller shipments, where we put together the most optimal solution together with other customers' goods.
